Childcare Falls Under Two Categories
There are lots of mixed messages and confusion surrounding Home Daycares - Licensed and Unlicensed.
Home childcare providers fall into two categories:
LICENSED = Those overseen by a licensed agency and may still operate and care for a maximum of 6 children under 13 yrs of age (excluding their own children over the age of 4yrs).
- CAN be a part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Program - CWELCC
UNLICENSED = Those providers who are independent home child care providers and not overseen by a licensed agency. They can care for a maximum of 5 children (excluding their own children over the age of 4yrs). An unlicensed provider must inform parents that they are unlicensed in writing.
- CAN NOT be a part of the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Program - CWELCC
Both licensed and unlicensed childcare providers must:
- Count their own children under the age of 4
- Care for a maximum of only 3 children under the age of 24 months (including their own children).
- Required to provide receipts for payment of services.

Who am I Licensed Under?
WHO WE ARE
Natural Connections Childcare is an independent and innovative childcare service with strong community roots, we provide a variety of support and services for both childcare providers and families of children 6 weeks to 13 years old. Setting the bar high with community-based, family-focused support, our new agency brings a whole new dimension to childcare. Natural Connections Childcare is an incorporated company run by Executive Director Kelli Cassidy. Kelli brings 35 years of childcare experience, including 20 years as a home visitor and director of a licensed home child care agency.
In Ontario, individuals who provide childcare from their homes are unable to hold a daycare license on their own and therefore affiliate with an agency if they choose to work within the licensed sector. These agencies are regulated by the Ministry of Education, Child Care Quality Assurance and Licensing Branch. Natural Connections Childcare is licensed to support private childcare homes. We are proud to offer providers and families the support and services they need for their childcare.

Natural Connections Childcare believes that by supporting childcare providers and families through reactive, diverse, responsive childcare services and information, we enhance positive relationships between childcare providers, children, parents, the agency and the community. Children thrive when provided with opportunities for self-directed play within an inclusive, supportive, individualized environment. We believe in honouring childhood through play.
