Schedule & Hours

This policy outlines important expectations to ensure smooth communication, safe care, and mutual respect between families and myself. Please take a moment to read through each section carefully.

Daily Schedule

What an average day looks like

 

7:30 am– 8:45 am - Arrival / Free Play Time


8:45 am – 9:00 am - Snack Time


9:00 am - Nap Time


9:00 am – 11:00 am - Activity Time / Outdoor Time / Outings / Free Time - (weather/season dependent)


11:00 am – 11:20 am - Clean-up Time


11:20am – 11:30am - Diaper Change / Washroom 


11:30 am – 12:30 pm - Lunch


12:30 pm - Nap Time / Quiet Time 

(For All Children 5 and under as per the MOE - 1 hr min NO Exceptions) 


Once wake-up - Diaper Change / Washroom 


Wake-up - 4:30 pm- Snack Time/Pick-up/Free Activity Time

Children will be changed or taken to the toilet when needed, but always before and after lunch and quiet time/nap time.


Children who are potty training MUST come to daycare in a Pull-up or Diaper until they receive their Certificate of Achievement for completing Potty Training.

Care Schedule & Pick-Up Expectations

Care Hours
I offer full-time care Monday through Friday, with a firm closing time of 4:30 PM. During our initial interview, we’ll discuss your preferred drop-off and pick-up times.


Pick-Up Guidelines

  • I’m happy to accommodate varying pick-up times as long as they don’t interfere with nap schedules and occur before 4:30 PM.
  • All times are based on the Ottawa Weather Network app for consistency.
  •  Staying past 4:30 PM is not part of my regular care schedule and is only considered in emergencies.  


Respecting Boundaries

To help maintain a respectful and balanced schedule:

  • I plan my day—including personal and family time—around your child’s schedule.
  • Earlier pick-up times are welcome, and I’ll plan accordingly
  • If you need care until 4:30 PM, that’s absolutely fine, but please be prompt with pick-up.
  • I cannot extend care past 4:30 PM due to other commitments
  • All drop-offs and pick-ups take place on my front porch
  • If another family is at the door, please wait your turn unless you’re in a hurry. Taking turns allows for private conversations with each parent regarding any updates or concerns.

Emergency Contact Expectations
Each family must provide at least one reliable emergency contact who:

  • Is reachable during care hours
  • Can arrive before 4:30 PM if needed
  • Is authorized to take your child home
  • Has a safe means of transportation, including a properly installed car seat if required

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Etiquette

  • All drop-offs and pick-ups are done on my front porch. 
  • If another family is already at the door, please wait your turn unless you're in a hurry.
  • Taking turns allows me to communicate privately with each parent about their child’s day or any concerns.

Absences & Communication

Absences
If your child will be absent, please call or text me as soon as you know so I can plan accordingly. If I have not heard from you by 10 am, I will connect with you to ensure your child is safe.


Late Drop-Offs & Pick-Ups

  • Notify me as early as possible if you're going to be later than 9 am.
  • If you expect to be late for pick-up, please give at least 30 minutes’ notice.
  • Late fees apply for pick-ups after 4:30 PM—even with notice.
  • You are still considered late if you are on the phone while sitting in your vehicle or on the porch.
  • Please have a backup pick-up person available in case of delays.

Late Fees & Payment Policy

Late Fee Structure
If you contact me before your scheduled pick-up time, 

you’ll receive a 5-minute grace period.
After that:

  • $10 for the next 5 minutes
  • $1 per minute from minute 6 to minute 20
  • $5 per minute after 20 minutes late


If no contact is made prior to pick-up, late fees begin at your scheduled time.


Payment Policy
Late fees must be paid on or before your child’s next scheduled day of care.
If unpaid, your child will not be accepted for care, and you’ll still be responsible for payment for missed days.

Emergency Situations

In the event of an accident or severe weather, please reach out to me via call or text to keep me informed. I will do my best to assist you. If you are able to arrange for someone else to pick up, please provide me with their name and contact information.


Each weather-related delay will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if any late fees will apply. This policy is meant to be used only in emergencies and should not be exploited. Misuse of this policy will lead to immediate termination of care.
